Everton eye Jack Grealish return after Manchester City sale agreed
Everton remain keen on re-signing Jack Grealish on loan this summer if Enzo Maresca does not see him entering his plans at Manchester City, sources have told Football Insider.
The 30-year-old built a strong relationship with David Moyes and the Toffees' supporters during his time on Merseyside, despite his campaign ending prematurely in January with a serious foot injury.
New Man City manager Maresca is yet to fully assess Grealish as he continues to recover from his foot problem.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, the winger is prioritising a return to Everton if he is not included in the Citizens' squad for the upcoming campaign.
Maresca saw fit to leave him out of their pre-season tour of Asia as he continues to recover at their Manchester training base.
What happened?
Everton are fielding major interest in star man Iliman Ndiaye, with Al-Hilal lining up a £75million move for his services this month.
Ndiaye's potential departure is set to further heighten the importance of some attacking additions, with Moyes eyeing another move for Grealish, who is happy to return to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Why it matters for Everton
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Everton will be in the market for attacking reinforcements if Ndiaye does leave, but it's always been their plan to try and get a deal done for Grealish, because he did so well for them last season.
"Obviously there’s a buy-in from Grealish as well if he hasn't got a long-term future at City, and that he would be interested in a move back to Everton having enjoyed his time on Merseyside."
What comes next?
It remains to be seen if any City move for Ndiaye has an impact on Everton's pursuit of Grealish.
