Jack Grealish's future at Everton is uncertain after a disciplinary breach led to him being dropped from the squad. Manager David Moyes is unlikely to recommend keeping the 31-year-old loanee beyond this season.

The incident occurred after Grealish missed a training session between the 2-0 defeat by Arsenal and the Carabao Cup match against Newcastle last week. Everton went public with the fact there had been a 'breach of club discipline' involving the player. Moyes addressed the situation briefly.

"It is something I don’t want to speak too much about," the Everton manager said.

Grealish has made 20 appearances for Everton in the first half of the 2025/26 campaign, contributing two goals and six assists. His return to the club on transfer deadline day was initially viewed as a positive move, and he has connected with supporters, notably donating £10,000 to a fan battling illness.

His on-field impact, however, now sits alongside this off-field setback. The England international, who has 39 caps, played the full 90 minutes in Manchester City's Champions League final victory before his loan move.

The news comes as Everton prepare to face Newcastle again in the Premier League this weekend. The Toffees sit 11th in the table with 10 points from eight games, having beaten the same opponents 3-1 at Goodison Park just days ago. James Garner, Hayden Hackney and Thierno Barry were the scorers in that victory. That win forms part of a recent upturn in form, with the team now unbeaten in their last four Premier League matches, securing two wins and two draws.

Their next fixture is away at St James' Park on November 2, a quick reunion that will test squad cohesion. Barry is the team's top scorer this season with three goals.

Grealish himself had struck an optimistic tone recently. "I will be going to sleep tonight with a smile on my face, ready for training tomorrow," he said last month. His goal contributions, averaging a goal or assist every 150 minutes, had been a bright spot before this incident.

With his £300,000-a-week Manchester City contract concluding at the end of this season, a permanent stay at Everton appears increasingly unlikely. The club's focus shifts to maintaining their mid-table position, currently 11 points behind leaders Manchester City, as they travel to face 8th-placed Newcastle.
