Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has returned to first-team training after spending the summer in Munich addressing ongoing hamstring problems. The 24-year-old centre-back missed significant portions of last season due to recurring injuries, prompting the club to arrange specialised treatment in Germany.

Branthwaite has now resumed training with the squad ahead of Everton’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Ipswich Town at Goodison Park on September 19. His return provides a boost to Sean Dyche’s defensive options as the Toffees aim to build on their unbeaten start to the 2026-27 campaign.

Everton began the season with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, followed by draws against Lille, Preston and Bournemouth, before securing a 2-2 draw with Manchester United and a goalless stalemate at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. The team currently sits eighth in the Premier League with six points from four games, six points behind leaders Arsenal.

The defender’s absence last term saw James Tarkowski and Michael Keane shoulder much of the central defensive burden, with young striker Beto stepping in during emergencies. Branthwaite’s fitness return coincides with Christian Nørgaard remaining sidelined due to a separate issue.

Speaking about his recovery, Branthwaite said: “I needed time to get this right. The work in Munich was tough but necessary.” He added that he now feels “stronger and more resilient” ahead of the challenges to come.

His return strengthens Everton’s backline as they prepare for a run of fixtures that includes home games against Ipswich and West Ham, plus an away trip to Chelsea. Fans can follow the squad’s progress and upcoming matches on the fixtures page.

Branthwaite is expected to feature in the matchday squad for the Ipswich clash. His availability adds depth to a defence that has conceded just three goals in the opening four league games.
