Everton is reportedly considering a significant summer transfer move for Manchester City star defender John Stones, according to reports from The i Paper. The experienced England international, aged 31, is set to become a free agent this summer after confirming his departure from the reigning Premier League champions upon the expiration of his contract.

Stones has faced a challenging season marked by injury issues, limiting him to just seven Premier League appearances. Despite this, he has been a pivotal figure for Manchester City since his arrival in 2016, accumulating 293 appearances across all competitions. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in securing six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy for the club.

Renowned for his elite ball-playing ability and extensive experience at the highest level of football, John Stones would undoubtedly bring quality to any squad. However, Everton currently possesses a well-stocked central defence, raising questions about the necessity of another centre-back signing for the Toffees.

The current defensive lineup includes Jarrad Branthwaite, who sustained a hamstring injury against Liverpool last month.
